I presume it gets routed to ip address, on the listening port.... picked up by the specified q manager?

Again this is WMQ 101. Simple, simple stuff. I'm not going to retype the documentation, annotating the parts about intercommunication, when it's all perfectly clearly laid out.

And I've already said that messages are not routed to an IP address but to a queue manager. It's additionally pointless to repeat myself.

RTFM. If you have a specific question about a specific situation where things are not happening as you expect (like a message going to the DLQ) then post it. If it's a more general question like "how do messages find their way" this forum is not the place.

Go though the Intercommunication manual. Get to grips with the relationship between the various MQ objects. If you don't know what will happen in a given situation try it. Set up queue managers on 2 different servers and pass messages between them.

Experiment. Make mistakes. Learn. It's worth it in the long run.

You're quite welcome. I look forward to assisting in future should an experiement fail for inexplicable reasons.

Allow me to point you to a useful thread which I offer in a genuine spirit of assistance:

http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=22295

It's solid advice which I use myself from a wiser man than me.

Happy Experimenting!

Problem now solved.

I think it was the case of my queuemanagers.

I deleted and started from scratch using all upper case and bada bing..... it works......

So whats the lesson learnt here.....

**Watch your case's when creating queues / queue managers / Channels / Transmission Queues etc.**

More formally expressed within the documentation as:

"All MQ objects are case sensitive"

but yes, that sounds like it. Edit the subject to start with "[solved]" and feel justifyably proud.

As a tip for future readers, it's normal for all MQ objects to be defined in upper case for exactly this reason. Especially where there's a mainframe in the mix; typing lower case in ISPF is a pain!

Ok I am going to look like a right dumb ass here but I dont think I can edit Thread subjects.

Is this a permission thing or am I complete rain man?

It won't work to add a new reply with the changed subject.

1. This has nothing to do with the thread you've posted it on.

2. Look up the error code in the documentation. The description of the code makes it clear that it's an application error and how to fix it.

Or even a quick glance at the result of an mqrc would give you a fairly big hint!

But as it's nearly Xmas:

Code:
 2080  0x00000820  MQRC_TRUNCATED_MSG_FAILED

So, what could possibly be truncating the message????
