Hi All,

I would like to use the field applIdentityData from the MQMD to identify the type of message. This field is definied as MQCHAR32. I would like to know if the content of this field is converted. For instance if the message is transported from iSeries to Windows NT.

Have you tried it to see?

If you've got a multiplatform environment already, why not run a quick test?

It will take much less time than asking here and waiting for a reply. And you'll know for sure, rather than having to guess or hoping someone will tell you the right thing.

Hello Jeff,

I have two systems both using EBCDIC (Z/OS and ISeries). That's why I thought I could not do a quick test myself.

I forgot that I also had MQControl from contact admin running on a w2k platform. When the conversion would take place automatically I could read the applIdentityData.

I created a small test application to test this. And.... The applIdentityData is converted automatically.

Sorry to bother you all with this unnecessary question,
