Its mean MQ is running on the system.
As we know the name of the package so, we tried to remove it.
# pkgrm mqm-upd12
pkgrm: ERROR: no package associated with <mqm-upd12>
Please suggest us how to remove MQ5.3 from system. |

Yes it's good practice (to say the least) to stop the queue manager before removing the MQ software, but are you sure the problem isn't one we've seen a lot of these last few days, case-(in)sensitivity?
when you do a "pkginfo -" and grep the result, try a "grep -i MQ" to see if it's a case problem. |

$ pkginfo | grep -i MQ
$ pkginfo | grep -i mq

Here is a output from both way. |

I don't think you're quite grasping it
pkginfo -i|grep -i mq
The first "-i" says only fully installed packages to be listed. The second says ignore case.
I wonder if you have managed to remove the MQ package while MQ was running.... |

Looks like you've been at least partially successful in removing the MQ package. Unfortuanately, it also looks like you had MQ processes running at the same time, and now you can't shut them down cleanly. Read the administrator guide for 5.3 and kill the processes in the appropriate order, and then carry on with what you doing. Do you just want to clean everything off?
You'll probably have to manually remove /var/mqm and /usr/mqm (I think for solaris, it's been a while!) directories - if that was what you were intending to do. You didn't actually state what you were trying to do. |

So why do you say you are trying to remove MQ5.3 - is it just CSD12 you're trying to remove? |

Why do you think you have to remove anything in order to migrate to v6? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hello,
WRT above discussion... please refer to this posting
http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=36562
Its not like I'm trying to judge anybody...I just got all the more confused from the above discussion.
Also I read on the infocenter that there cannot be two command servers running at the same time... If atall you try to install the newer version on the machine which already hosts an older version it tries to migrate the older to new one....and all those things....
will the GMs and Ms be able to clarify...
Thank you..
