Hi guys,
When I try to start the queue manager(the configuration queue manager), it says that processes that were previously started are still running. Queue Manager can not be restarted or deleted. I am not sure which services are running.
When I tried to open MQ Explorer to stop previously opened services,it is not opening! The MQ services is opening fine, but not MQ Explorer. I'm using MQ v 5.3 and logging in remotely to the server.
Kindly inform me what shall I do
Thank you,
Veeru. |

Here is the message that I got:
AMQ8041
The queue manager cannot be restarted or deleted because processes, that were previously connected, are still running.
AMQ????
I do not remember the other message, but i think it's of little importance. It just says that the queue manager can not be started.
Right now I'm not in front of the office system and that's why I am not sure of the second error.I can not provide you further information until tomorrow.Kindly let me know the most possible reason for this so that I can try to fix this problem.
Thank you,
Veeru. |

OK I was hoping the process ID would be written in the message.
You might like to consider downloading and running the "Handle" tool from http://www.sysinternals.com/ - it will tell you what files are open by all processes on the system. |

Typically if you run strmqm it should give you the process ids that are running and preventing you from starting the qmgr.
You can then check them out from the task manager's process screen(ctrl+alt+del). Make sure you add the pid id in the column list (as it does not show by default). You should then be able to determine what needs to be done (probably runing WAS and MDB's that still have a handle on the qmgr).

But since I log in remotely to that machine, I can't use Ctrl+Alt+Del and figure out the running processes. Do you think if I restart the machine, it stops the running processes? If not I will download the handle tool mentioned by 'mvic'. |

Weren't there some fixes in early CSDs of 5.3 to better handle using Terminal Services?
Try Hiding your queue managers in the MMCs, and then re-adding them as Remote Queue Managers. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I guess Ctrl+Alt+Del is not the only way to bring up th task manager.

I wish IBM though the same thing about mqseries.net and posted more links of this site at more places.
But what surprised me is the amazing links it provided for tivoli forums.
I went to tivoli product page at IBM
http://www-306.ibm.com/software/tivoli/tug/
It pointed me to tivoli usergroups link.
http://www.tivoli-ug.org/p2p/
Here is where you can ask questions and answers on around 100 tivoli products.
Before you click on the link below, guess how many posts are there for the entire tivoli products.
