Hi thomaszheng,
1. You have to install the db2 client.
2. From the control center add a node to the remote database.
3. Make an ODBC source for the remote database.

db2 has a "administration client" and a "application development client", which client should be installed for creating a data source for db connection?
Best

Hi thomaszheng,
I would not even bother if I installed the server and not the client, as long as i dont use the server options.
Guess you are a developer so go for the "application development client"...
Kidding, I think the administration one will install lot of the other monitoring tools along with your installation, which are not required.
