Yeah. 4 CDs for the Toolkit, 1 for the Broker, 1 for the Manuals, another for the Rational Agent Controller. Plus, you might also need the MQ V6 and DB2.

Cheers,

Ahh... all good things, etc. etc.

Rational Application Developer is part of the the tooling now, and accounts for two-point-something gigs of the download.

How many DVDs is the next version of Portal going to come on? One HD-DVD?

(curious as I am ...)

When I downloaded WMQ V6.0 in june from the Software Mall package id was C8471ML and the file size was 489.912.926 bytes, now
in september the WMQ V6.0 package that comes with WMB V6.0 has package id C85MJML and is 491.715.583 bytes

so what's new in the WMQ V6.0 package that comes with WMB V6.0?

There is no trial (read: free) version of WMB V6.0

There is an electronic download from IBM (provided you have the required Software Access Option, this is not a FREE site, it requires a $$ subscription)

Don't forget your WMQ V6 Explorer too. I've got this running along side the Message Brokers toolkit and it's nice

Has anyone tried WMB V6? Is migration from wmqi 2.1 to wmb V6 smooth?

I am playing around with V6.
Migrating from V2.1 to V6 is not much different from migrating to V5.
The most effort is setting up your new development environment and a repository.
V6 has the advantage that it can run alongside V2.1 on the smae machine.

I'd like to get people's views on this when they come to play with v6. Given that I know what migration to v5 was like, I hope this isn't the case
The development team has put a lot of effort into making migration to v6 really simple; if anything's not as simple as it could be then it needs to be solved.

Given particularly the coexistence capability mentioned above, and also the lack of redeploys required when migrating the broker(*), I would hope that migration from v2.1 is *much* simpler than from v2.1 to v5. Migrating from v5 should be even easier, as you will already have the development repositories set up - and you also have rollback support for the broker.

The biggest issues that I can see are (a) (*) the need to redeploy message sets when migrating from v2.1, and (b) provision of rollback to v2.1. Both of these are known limitations that are being looked at as we speak.
