Hi all,
As I see, there is a lot of fuss going on about WBIMB v6.
The IBM promised dates for electronic media delivery for this product is September 30, 2005, but, It seems that some of our esteemed fellow members have already got this version to evaluate (or use(?)).
Can they tell us more about what's new in WBIMB v6?
Also some time earlier we had had a great thread where everybody has posted their expectations from this v6. Can the people who have already evaluated or used this version tell whether our expectations are satisfied?

I would like to know more about the Java Compute Node and Timer-Timeout nodes.
Also, WMBv5 CSD4 gave the functionality to call static Java methods from within ESQL. Is this functionality included in v6?
I have also expected some more commands in Command Line Interface:
Do we have any commands which can be typed in command prompts for:
1. Deploying message flow to a particular EG on Broker
2. Starting and stopping a particular message flow
3. changing its trace mode from 'none' to 'normal' or 'debug'
4. Creating new execution groups
etc.
(Basically all the activities which can be done via Broker Administration perspective)??
Is this included in v6?
IS XMLValidation Node (Supportpac IA9A) built-in in v6?

There's a few comments in the announcement letter about enhancements to admin commands and scripting. You should review it again.

Yes:
1) mqsideploy
2) mqsistartmsgflow/mqsistopmsgflow
3) mqsichangetrace
4) mqsicreateexecutiongroup
There will be a new Java API called the Config Manager Proxy, which will allow you to programatically do pretty much anything that the Broker Admin perspective can do.
It is actually the same API that the Broker Admin perspective uses (in addition to many of the commands), so should be comprehensive.
The API will come with several samples including an API exerciser, which should give you a good idea of its capabilities. I like to think the documentation is good too

I'm interested in how easy it is to migrate to v6 from v2.1... I understand it is much improved over v5 (difficult not to be!) but in terms of message flow\message set functionality are there any things to watch out for?
How easy is it to migrate the config manger? I'm guessing very easy

I doubt it's any easier to go from 2.1 to 6 than it is to go from 2.1 to 5.
It may not be a bad idea to skip 5 if you haven't gotten there yet, though.

I'm planning on skipping v5. Version 6 has a lot of features we can use that aren't in v5.
Installation and migration was a big problem with v5 so sincerely hope it that isn't the case with v6 (which I know it isn't anyway as I've just read my email!).

Hi Angus,
Migration from 2.1 to 6 is easier than 2.1 to 5. For a start the two versions (2.1 and 6) can co-exist on the same box, which makes it a lot easier. 5 and 6 can also co-exist as well for those migrating from 5.

...and the fact that in most cases you don't have to gut your broker and redeploy everything (even from v2.1), should help migration no end.
A typical scenario could be:
1) Install v6 alongside existing version
2) Stop component (CM, broker, UNS)
3) Load up a v6 profile
3) Run mqsimigratecomponents [componentname(s)]
4) Start component
and... err... that's all there is to it (runs away and hides  )
