Hi folks,

I am planning to install MQ Client on Solaris machine. But that particular solaris machine has already MQ server installed on it and is at version 6.0.2.0.

I have looked at the manuals and understood that i should use the SERVER CD-ROM if i want both server and client on the same machine.

So, I started the installation from SERVER CD-ROM. when i ran the pkgadd command i got the following options.

Quote:
pkgadd -d .

The following packages are available:
1 gsk7bas Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk7bas)
(sparc) 7.0.3.15
2 gsk7bas64 Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk7bas64)
(sparcv9) 7.0.3.15
3 mqm WebSphere MQ for Sun Solaris
(sparcv9) 6.0.0.0

Select package(s) you wish to process (or 'all' to process
all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]:

From the above 3 options, I am not sure which one to select to install MQ CLIENT as MQ Server is installed already. The manual also doesn't specify this clearly. Can somebody help me please.

Thank You,

I am no UNIX expert, but I would look at installing the client from the support pac provided by IBM. Does it matter if the server is already installed?

Hi zpat,

If we want to install MQ Client on a machine where MQ Server is already existing, we have to go with Server Installation CD only.

I assume if you select the mqm option, you will them be presented with a whole list of mqm specific options, like the MQ Server, MQ man pages, MQ Client, etc.

And you will need to apply maintenance again.

Peter is correct, choose the third option and you will then be presented with addtional options. One of these will be the MQClient.
