Hi folks,
I am planning to install MQ Client on Solaris machine. But that particular solaris machine has already MQ server installed on it and is at version 6.0.2.0.
I have looked at the manuals and understood that i should use the SERVER CD-ROM if i want both server and client on the same machine.
So, I started the installation from SERVER CD-ROM. when i ran the pkgadd command i got the following options.
Quote: |
pkgadd -d .
The following packages are available:
1 gsk7bas Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk7bas)
(sparc) 7.0.3.15
2 gsk7bas64 Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk7bas64)
(sparcv9) 7.0.3.15
3 mqm WebSphere MQ for Sun Solaris
(sparcv9) 6.0.0.0
Select package(s) you wish to process (or 'all' to process
all packages). (default: all) [?,??,q]: |
From the above 3 options, I am not sure which one to select to install MQ CLIENT as MQ Server is installed already. The manual also doesn't specify this clearly. Can somebody help me please.
Thank You, |

I am no UNIX expert, but I would look at installing the client from the support pac provided by IBM. Does it matter if the server is already installed? |

Hi zpat,
If we want to install MQ Client on a machine where MQ Server is already existing, we have to go with Server Installation CD only. |

I assume if you select the mqm option, you will them be presented with a whole list of mqm specific options, like the MQ Server, MQ man pages, MQ Client, etc. _________________ Peter Potkay

And you will need to apply maintenance again. |

Peter is correct, choose the third option and you will then be presented with addtional options. One of these will be the MQClient. |
