Hi,
I know there is a queue manager attribute Expryint (sp?) on z/oS that will remove expired messages from a queue without having to browse that queue. I know there is no such option on the Windows platform. So, is the only way to remove an expired message from a queue on Windows by periodically browsing the queue(s)?
Thanks,
Bill |

On distributed platforms expired messages are removed by the next read action on that queue. So for a queue that's in use there shouldn't be a build up of messages.
But yes, there's no administrative way of removing them.
Never quite been certain how you'd get such a build up (because they're
cleared out by the next action) but maybe that's just me?
Do I also remember reading something about v6 clearing expired message on any action now, not just a read? Anyone? _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

If the queue is open, expired messages get cleaned up without further action, in MQ 6.0. Its not documented, you shouldn't rely on it, but it does work. Do a search here, its been discussed. _________________ Peter Potkay
