Hello all,
I discussed channel triggering vs. starting a channel from the command line a while ago here. I still may use the command line, but I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to show an example of modifying an existing channel to be triggered upon messages being sent to it?
Thanks guys. (Hehe, I have IBM Websphere MQ training scheduled for next month, but I kinda would like to know how beforehand.) |

There are explicit, step by step instructions, with detailed explanations, in the Intercommunications manual. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Cool, I will look through that again. I read it about two months ago and of course didn't retain everything. |

Actully you won't be "Modifying a channel for triggering" you will be modifying an XMITQ for triggering. I am assuming you want a Sender Channel to start when a message arrives on it.
I normally use the following:
* define/alter ql(QUEUENAME) +
INITQ(SYSTEM.CHANNEL.INITQ) +
TRIGDATA(SDR.CHANNEL.NAME) +
MSGDLVSQ(FIFO) +
USAGE(XMITQ) +
TRIGGER +
TRIGTYPE(FIRST) +
TRIGDEPTH(1) +
REPLACE
On a Unix platform put the above into a file after modifying the generic values to match your Queue & SDR Channel names.
* Use define to create a new XMITQ/alter to modifiy and existing QLocal.
Then you will want to have a look at your Sender Channel Retry and Disconnect interval values. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |
