A dumb question.

I was trying to figure out if WMQ V6 and WMQ 5.3 can coexist on same machine?

Any pointer is helpful. Thx.

Straightforward answer: NO

The two versions cannot even be installed at the same time - WMQ uses specific directories to store binaries and some data files.

It could probably be done that they could both coexist. It wouldn't be supported, and they wouldn't run at the same time.

But a 5.3 could be installed, the registry hand edited, and then a 6 installed in a different location.

I think a define "machine" is inplace here

If have WebSphere MQ 5.2, 5.3 and 6.0 running concurrently on my "machine" ...

my "machine" is a T42 laptop with VMWare

I know this is not "supported", but works for me.

Also the the new pSeries hardware like p690 can be partitioned into single or double CPU partinions and they could run seperate instances and versions of MQ. I guess that would be "supported"
