I'm a newbie to MQ, and tried to install MQ 5.3(eval copy) on my Win2k box, but kept getting security credentials errors. After trying a few methods described in some of the forum topics here with no success, I decided to install the v6.0 beta. That worked no problem, it got past the Prepare MQ wizard, and I was happy.
The only thing I cant figure out is how to install MQ Explorer. I have Eclipse version 3.1 on my machine, but dont know what the installer means when its looking for "Websphere Eclipse Platform 3.0.1" ? Do I have to install the trial version of Websphere Studio if I want to get MQ Explorer going? |

Well mqnewguy,
When you downloaded the beta version it also includes the installation of "Webshere eclipse platform" which is required for MQ. So U just select as if you were installing from the CD, or just choose the "Websphere Eclipse Platform 3.0.1" which comes with the beta version.
The MQExplorer no longer uses MMC snap-in but uses eclipse.

That worked like a charm. I remember reading somewhere about the 6.0 beta version expiring at the end of June. Is this true, or can I ignore this? I dont want to have to go back to trying to install 5.3 since that never worked on my box. |

I guess it expires and you will no longer be able to use MQ. But I am not sure and I need not worry as I have full verison. May be somebody else on the forum might be able to help you out. |

Do you have a beta copy or a trial copy? The trial copy was good for 60 days and gives you a message letting you know how many days you have left. The beta copy should do the same thing. |

I see. At what point and where do you get the notice that shows how many days you have left in your trial? |

go to a command window and start your qmgr (strmqm), you should see a "you have xx days left" message there .... _________________ -wayne |
