Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to delete a cluster. I created one for testing purposes, and would like to delete it, along with the channels that were created.
This should be simple, although I cannot delete the cluster.

I have tried the RESET CLUSTER command however it does not appear to have worked. I am running WebSphere for Windows v5.3.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Matthew

You don't, as such. A Cluster isn't an "entity" that can be deleted.

You remove all the non-Repository QMs first, according to the documentation, then you remove the Repositories from the remaining QMs and delete the Channels.

Cheers,

Thank you very much.
Surely there must be a way to remove the cluster that is listed within Explorer? Are we saying that once it has been created, it can never be removed? That seems quite odd.

Thanks,
Matthew

Jeff,
I realize that the channels can be deleted as per Eddie's suggestion. However, I am asking if the entry under the cluster container within the WebSphere console can be deleted. Assuming I delete the channels and so on, I am still left with an orpahaned cluster entry under the cluster container. It is this which I am having trouble understanding.

Many thanks for your time,
Matthew

That tip was for the MMC snap-in, in V5.

For V6, it doesn't look like there is a way to remove it. Try reporting it to IBM as a bug/enhancement.

Cheers,

I think in v6 you can hack around in the workspace files.

Once you have altered the clustered objects to remove the cluster atribute, you can issue the REFRESH CLUSTER command on that qmgr.

Repeat on each qmgr that was in the cluster. Some residual cluster definitions may remain in the repositories; but they will stale-date in 91 days and be automatically removed. (or is it 61 days...)

Refer to the Queue Manager Clusters manual.
