Hi All,
This problem might seem very weird but this is what is happening:
Whenever i try to save any e-SQL file in WBIMB, it just hangs. I have to an End task and restart WBIMB.....and all this i am doing when the Broker and configmgr are not running / not started. And once i restart MB and open the E-SQL , i find all the lines of code are saved !!!!!!!!
My Environment is :
WIN 2K + SP4, 512 MB RAM, 40G hard Disk, 1500 MHz CPU speed, pagefile for C:\ ( root directory of MB) = 1024 MB.
Version: 5.0.4
Build id: 20040715_1621
Has anybody faced such problem before. Is there a way i can find out what wrong and what is causing this problem apart from Event Logs ( where there is no indication at all). Please Help.

There is a .log file in the <your workspace>/.metadata folder.
Are you sure you applied FP4 to your Toolkit? There are some caveats with FP4 and FP5 for Toolkit installation on windows. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hello Jeff,
Yeah...I have FP4 installed for WBIMB (U200220.exe).
I did try to save an E-SQL again, and MB responded the same way ....it just hanged. I opened the latest log file from the directory as you mentioned and got the below log: This one got updated just after i forced closed the toolkit. Please Help.

That looks like a logging configuration file, not the ".log" file I expected.
Just to be extra sure - please confirm that the About box for the Toolkit shows version 5.0.4. Just because you have run the installer for FP4 on a Toolkit, doesn't mean that it has APPLIED the fix pack. See the Readme for more info. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Try running your Toolkit from the command line, and add a -clean to it.
I wasn't sure if you were clear that the Toolkit needed to report the right version.
Also, try creating a new workspace (using the -data option to the Toolkit) and reimporting your projects. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I have the same problem, but it only happens when I try to save large esql files. I have attributed it to a memory issue, but have not yet expanded the memory on my machine to prove that out. I have about 646MB of Ram and am looking to get it expanded to 1G. _________________ IBM Certified Specialist: MQSeries

have experienced this in the past on my laptop and on several desktops that only have approx 512 mb to 1 gb of ram
when the esql file is very large it took several minutes to save and i thought it was hanging but infact it was still saving
patience is a key here
alternatively if your esql file is so large that it is causing this try breaking it down into smaller files with specific actions in each file eg Filters, data inserts etc
this will reduce the file size |

I agree with Nathan, patience is the key. I have experienced the same thing. If you want to confirm that it is actually doing something, open your task manager and watch the processes as it is saving. javaw.exe takes about 99% of my processor and takes several minutes the first time I save a large esql file. Subsequent saves seem to go a lot faster.
It is frustrating. |

Hi Guys,
The problem seems to have gone now. I actually had 2 message sets in my workspace which were of large size ...around 3-4MB each. I deployed those message sets in the broker and removed from workspace and then tried saving the e-sql file....it dodnot even take me 5 secs to save the E-SQL file.
I think the newer version of the product would be more efficient in handling such situations.
Morale of the story: Keep contents in the workspace which are necessary(Bare Minimum). )
