Hello,
How can i create a topic in MQ so i could use it in WebSphere. Must I create a Queue Manager to have publisher/subscriber queue only? or will i point my Topic Connection Factory to the same Queue Manager as others Queue?

Thanks
Breno

You need a broker running against any queue manager. There are several brokers available, including one built into the product as of CSD8.

Then you point your TCF at that queue manager.

There is a Pub/Sub manual out there.

Alternatively, there are some java samples installed if you have installed MQ Java/JMS component.
You can look at those examples and they are pretty good to start with.

The path is always:
  1. Read the manuals
  2. Search mqseries.net for previous discussions
  3. try things on your own
  4. ask for specific help on problems you've encountered.

At least, in my opinion.

You should be able to find a PDF on IBM's website called 'Pub/Sub User's guide". It's named amqnar10.pdf for the version 6 copy, I think it's amqnar09.pdf for the version 5 copy.

if you have written only the quoted, it would be enough.
thanks..
PS: Sorry for asking about a path, i should have asked about a good doc, like you pointed.

I want to know how to create a topic, too. My WMQ is 6.0, and broker is WMQ publisher/subscriber.

That's not even funny, how about reading what's written here?

I have searched this forum about "create topic", and don't get more infomation. and read detail about 'Pub/Sub User's guide', it doesn't mention about "create topic". So I ask this question, it puzzled me about long time.

Come on now, did you really look ?

I just reviewed the Publish/Subscribe manual and in less than 1 minute I found a section titled 'Adding a new topic' (page 18), which details step by step (10 steps in all) how to create a topic.

Thanks for JT. But the document you provided is about WebSphere Message Broker, that another tool for Pub/Sub. And the broker I used is embeded in WMQ 6.0.

Try the PubSub guide at http://www.elink.ibmlink.ibm.com/public/applications/publications/cgibin/pbi.cgi?CTY=US&FNC=SRX&PBL=SC34660600

In the broker included in the WMQ product after 5.3 CSD8, and at v6, there is no explicit command to create a topic. The Register Publisher and Register Subscriber commands create the topic implicitly as part of the command.

Thanks a lot. Just you said, if I use broker at V6, I only create runtime Topic?
And I found there have no JAVA example by using Register command in PubSub guide. How to use these commands by Java?

I'm a newbie about MQ, please help me.

Did you read the manual?

There is no API, the commands are implemented by msgs being put to the broker command queue. You have to create the MQRFH (version 1) msgs in your app and put them to the queue yourself.
