We exposed lof of our business functions on mainframe (ims transactions) as MQ services. However, we want to promote some of them as web services? We already receive and reply messages in XML format from ims transactions that are invoked through either OTMA or Trigger Monitor.

Any info and expertise on how to develop web services is appreciated.

WBIMB 5.0 can do this for you.

There are a few Redbooks written on this, which may help you. Also check out the tech articles.

As zpat suggests, you can use WBIMB to receive HTTPInput (use HTTPInput Node), and wire it out to your backend MQ programs. Send the reply back using HTTPReply (use HTTPReply Node). This way you are publishing your msgflow as a webservice. Hope that helps.

You may wish to expose the services as SOAP over MQ/JMS, rather than SOAP over HTTP if you require transactionality.
