I have just installed Object REXX. I have been using REXX for years (no time to teach myself JAVA this week) so I thought it would be a good choice for me to dabble with MQ programming.
I have downloaded and about to install MA77 supportpac. I see it is for MQ v2 with PTF applied. I also see in the documentation, that I can compile and rebuild the DLLs (if i had and/or installed MS Visual C++). I have W2K (if that matters).
Question 1: will Object REXX and MA77 work with MQ v5.2?
Question 2: if yes, what functions are missing, limited, etc?
Question 3: if no, do I have to rebuild the DLLs?
Question 4: has someone already done it and could share?
Question 5: what about MA78, if haven't looked at it yet, but the same questions apply
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Question 1: will Object REXX and MA77 work with MQ v5.2?
yes. we had a version 5.1 running in production and currently 5.2
in our test environment(test machine for upgrade purposes)
Question 2: if yes, what functions are missing, limited, etc?
i cant really give you a definite answer as our requirements mainly
on getting the messages(mqget) & put(mqput)
Question 3: if no, do I have to rebuild the DLLs?
Question 4: has someone already done it and could share?
our only problem with this rexx dlls was a sharing violation. as we
having 4 processors running at the same time and trying to get(mqget) the
messages at the same time, the error 'unable to load xxxxx dll' appears.
but i believed the error more on the REXX dlss rather that mqseries
capability
Question 5: what about MA78, if haven't looked at it yet, but the same questions apply
have not check on the MA78.
tq

Thanks for your reply. I appreciate your insight. Now, I can install the SupportPacs with some expectation of success. I'll keep you posted. |
