I have 2 queue managers on 2 different machines. One queue manager writes lot of logs archive folder and at the same time the other doesnot. i have set up linear logging for both the queue managers and the environment is windows. Please guide me in understanding the logs written by the queue manager.

Thanks

what do you mean by writes lot of logs archive folder?

If you are talking about the number of log files, that number depends on the number of Primary and Secondary logfiles specified in the mqs.ini or qm.ini file

Then that queue manager is either performing more message activity than the other queue manager or the size of the messages that queue manager is processing are much larger.

The size of the messages sent to both the queue managers is same. So its message activity of the queue manager.
when the environment and the other settings are the same on both the queue managers, how is that one is more active than the other.what factors decide the activity of the queue manager.

Thanks

What makes you think that the messages would be evenly distributed between the two queue managers?

How are the messages written to the queue managers?

Are the queue managers clustered?

Is one box the FR and the other a PR?

Is one box acting as a gateway to the cluster and the other not?

Are your developers using BIND_ON_OPEN?

Both the boxes are full repositories. and the default bind on cluster queues is not fixed.

Thanks

Although the queue managers are clustered, are all of the applications also clustered?

Are any of the applications using remote queues or specifying one of the queue mangers when writing messages?

Are you sure the apps are using the default bind?

Applications are not using any of the remote queues and we have not specified the queue manager when writing the messages.
Apps are using the default bind.

Thanks
