There is an IFIX LCR016 that allows Linux WMQI connection to Oracle DB via ODBC. Has anyone installed got this ifix running?

I would be really surprised if that were possible in anything other than FP5.

Until FP5, Broker on linux can only connect directly to DB2. Post FP5, broker has to use ODBC.ini and mqsisetupdatabase.

So migrate to FP5, and you might be okay.

The readme says all I need is FP4. If I upgrade to FP5 and then apply IFIX, it might be a big mess too goind down. Does FP5 officialy supports connections to Oracle? My best bet would be asking IBM if they have this IFIX for FP5. Let me know. Cheers.

FP5 does not appear to officially support anything other than DB2, at least according to this

But that might not have been updated for FP5.

Yep. I just checked. Looks like that Ifxi LCR016 became part of fp5.

I have posted this update on : http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=21775 but have included it here as well to avoid confusion on this topic :

1. WBIMB v5 FP4 on Linux Intel supports Oracle 10g via interim fix LCR016

2. WBIMB v5 FP5 on Linux Intel will support Oracle 10g via interim fix LCR016 (which has yet to be built, and should be request from IBM support)

3. WBIMB v5 FP5 memo includes the reference " f36957 - LCR016 ifix Support for Oracle 9/10 on Linux ". This is misleading as feature f36957 only gives you the DataDirect 5.0 ODBC Driver Manager but does not ship the DataDirect 5.0 Oracle drivers. These drivers must still be obtained via LCR016. We have requested this reference is changed to something more appropriate like " f36957 - LCR016 enablement of ODBC support on Linux "

4. The reason this has worked for Mikhail is that he had LCR016 installed on FP4 before going to FP5 ( as per http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=21741 ) and therefore already had the Oracle drivers.

5. In summary, both WBIMB v5 FP4 and FP5 require LCR016 to enable support for Oracle 10g

Hello!

We are trying to setup WBIMB 5.0 CSD06 on Linux with the broker database on a Oracle server. Do we still need to apply the LCR016 or is this now included in CSD06? The IBM website says yes it's included but after applying CSD06 we do not find any Oracle drivers installed?

Regards,
Stephan

Open a PMR or whatever to request the fix.

If it's not needed for FP6, they should tell you.
