Two questions
1-what is the good practice for deleting default objects created after you have run the ctrmqm and created your queue managet. (default sender chls etc?)

2- Wmq version 6 will be able to talk to MQ 5.3 on other systems correct?

thanks !

I don't know that I've ever deleted the default objects. You can choose not to create them in the first place. But then you have to do a lot of things manually - like create SYSTEM.ADMIN.COMMAND.QUEUE if you want to run a command server, and etc.

And I really like changing the MAXMSGLN of SYSTEM.DEFAULT.LOCAL.QUEUE after I create a qmgr and before I create any queues. Saves a lot of time.

You can download the open beta and find out for yourself!

But yes, it seems to. The new Eclipse tooling properly gave me a 2035 when trying to talk to a 5.3 qmgr that my Windows user doesn't have permissions on.

1- I never delete the default objects, sometime just change settings: MCAUSER on SYSTEM.DEF.SVRCONN, STGCLASS on some z/OS default queues.

2- Shure. They can't use the the new features: Compression, Cluster priority, and other new channel stuff. We can't relly on all upgrading word wide on same time.....

But the requirement for various versions is: They can talk together.

You've allready got it in version 5.3, with the usage of MQMD version 1 or 2.... Where you have to specify version 2 when dealing with groped messages, but the default is 1....

And about the 2035 from Eclipse against a 5.3 Qmgr, It works on my setup (After I defined the user running Eclipse).

You can get your own version copy here: http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/download/brand.jsp?b=Websphere

I wanted it to give me a 2035. The user I was running eclipse as wasn't authorized on the target system, and shouldn't be.
