Hi all

I am a developer, I want to take the MQ admin certification to help on the admin tasks but I want to know the minimum networking knowledge I should have before I take this step , Should I be expert on the TCP/IP and the other networking protocols ?

Thanks

For admin purposes you only need to know what protocol is going to be used between queue managers (usually this is TCP/IP but not always).

For debugging, finger pointing and defending MQ it is a little more useful but you still do not require to be an 'expert'.

...anyway...thats why the network folks get the big bucks right?

Regardless of MQ certification or not any self respecting IT professional owes it to himself or herself to have a decent basic understanding of TCP/IP. Here is a good tutorial.
