I know this topic has been repeatedly asked and answered, but I couldn't determine what to do if you didn't have access to an already installed instance of MQSI to zip and copy over.

I have WBIMBv5 installed on my laptop with the Toolkit, Broker and Config manager. I want to install the MQSIv2.1 Control Center. When I use the CD, I get an 'incompatible version' error and the install terminates. I also cannot use the method listed by mverh here:

Here's how to run Control Center V2.1 on the same desktop as Eclispe Workbench V5.

Zip up the directory containing your V2.1 CC. Copy the zip to the box where you want the CC to run. In my case this was the desktop that had the EW V5 installed. Unzip it. Update the mqsilcc.bat in the ..\Tool directory and add a PATH statement. The Path should include the CC V2.1 bin directory.

Example:

set PATH=C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\WEBSPH~1.1\bin;%PATH%

Note I used the 8.3 format for my directory names (less typing).

In a command window cd to the directory containing mqsilcc.bat. Invoke mqsilcc.bat.

That's it. Note I didn't try installing the V2.1 CC from the CD. Who knows maybe that'll work too.

HTH.

because I do not have access to a directory containing the v2.1 CC. My WBIMBv5 was a fresh install and not an upgrade.

What are my options now? Uninstall WBIMBv5, reinstall MQSIv2.1, zip the necessary files, uninstall MQSIv2.1, reinstall WBIMBv5 and then follow mverh's trick? I sincerely hope there is an easier way. Thanks.

Usually you go forward and not backward.

You could try and fool the 2.1 install by messing with the registry as in the last addition of this post http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=12541

or get a clean machine, install the CC and zip it up and move it to your machine

Okay. I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks.
