Solaris
MQ 5.3
I was asked this question and thought if somebody knew the answer.

Basically he has a gskit VERSION:  6.0.3.33
After he downloaded the CSD (CSD09) there is an image file and he is trying to install it and the version of gskit here is 6.0.5.43

It is erroring out with the following message

Quote:

Processing package instance <gsk6bas> from </data1/packages/MQ/MQ5.3-Solaris/Patches/mqm-U498686.img>

Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk6bas)

(sparc) 6.0.5.43

Current administration requires that a unique instance of the

<gsk6bas> package be created.  However, the maximum number of

instances of the package which may be supported at one time on the

same system has already been met.

No changes were made to the system.

root@vennela# pkginfo -l gsk6bas

Should he be uninstalling the older version and install what is found in the CSD or can he overlay on the older version?

I don't have a Solaris box to test.

Not sure about this particular Fileset but in many cases on Solaris Servers you have to do a pkgrm on the current version then pkgadd the new one.

Actually found this in the readme. So, I felt stupid immediately after I posted

Quote:

Change directory to the location of the GSKit package,

The old package will need to be removed before the new one is
installed. This can be achieved with the command:

pkgrm gsk6bas

You will the see the output similar to the following:

The following package is currently installed:
gsk6bas Certificate and SSL Base Runtime (gsk6bas)
(sparc) 6.0.2.46

Do you want to remove this package? y

## Removing installed package instance <gsk6bas>
## Verifying package dependencies.
WARNING:
The <mqm> package depends on the package currently
being removed.
Dependency checking failed.

Do you want to continue with the removal of this package y,n,?,q y

If any other packages are listed as being dependent upon the GSKit,
and they are current running, you should stop the program(s)
associated with that package while the upgrade is being performed.

Answer y (yes) to the two questions, as shown above, to continue
with the uninstall.

Then install the new GSKit package:

pkgadd -d . gsk6bas

and follow the on screen instructions.
