I've heard that Sybase has an integration broker solution based on the original code of MQSI. Is that true that their solution and WBI have the same base (some old version on MQSI)?

That isn't surprising, as Sybase is now owned (correct me if I'm wrong anybody) by the same company that produced MQSI V1.0 - NEON (New Era Of Networks). And, more tracing of roots, this sprang from a company called Century Associates that had produced a product called TDM which was the forerunner of the MQSI "engine".

History lesson over - is my reccollection of the origin BIMBO (Sorry, WBIMB) correct? Scary, it was 8 years ago I was using TDM in this way. Real primitive, you had to write all the interfaces (now called adapters I suppose) by hand - a bit like old coders talking about the "bad old days" when programs were punched out on paper tape in machine code....

actually NEON were bought out by SyBase

the original MQSI 1.0 and 1.1 was the Neon Rules and Formats Engine with MQ Series

this was a partnership between NEON and IBM ( I worked for NEON )

when v2 MQSI came out it was pure IBM but it still used the v1 technology for certain areas ie people who still wanted some V1 functionality

OK, so Sybase ate NEON, not the other way round
BUT did NEON spring from CAI - if so, I can say I've got 8 years MQSI experience

Well, I'll answer my own question then - apparently Sybase own the "retired" TDM product - which did have a Rules and Format Engine I remember. The central widget was a broker.

Why "no comment"? They're not going to sue you are they
