Hi,

We are looking at upgrading the OS our config manager run on from NT to W2K. The OS upgrade is destructive.

Is it possible to save the DB2 tables, install DB2,WMQ, WMQI, restore the DB2 tables and create the config manage or is there a better way?

DB2 V7.2
WMQ 5.3 CSD 5
WMQI 2.1 CSD 6

Many thanks
Stefan

That seems like the way.

Also, you should take the opportunity to apply FixPacks to DB2, MQ and Broker while you're at it.

But after you've verified the restore...

And you should create the configmgr, and THEN restore the DB2 tables.

Otherwise you will have to delete and recreate all your brokers to get them registered for the new configmgr.

There are backup/recovery instructions in the System Administration Guide for 2.1.

I'd suggest that you try restoring the DB first and then use those DB to create config mgr. I think it should work for you.

I thought if you ran mqsicreateconfigmgr, it would assign a new unique ID to the configmgr?

It's been too long since I read the recovery instructions.
