Is anyone using IC63 with WBI v5??

What Veritas verion are you usng.

Is it working?

Veritas want to sell us the WEBSPHERE agent. We are using Portal but I was under the impression from discussions you did not want WAS in a Cluster. It was built in to WAS.

Thank for the advice and the move.

But if you think about it. The Broker and the MQSeries QMGR are married in a Cluster failover situation. While the question was about the Broker Cluster Support Pack for Solaris it would directly involve the MQSeries QMGR and the MQSeries Cluster Support Pack for Solaris. So the question COULD be answered in either Forum.

Hopfully the WBI forum will be responsive to the question. Unless nobody is using it.

Veritas want to charge us an ARM and a LEG for something thqat already exist. I decided on the Support Pack for WBI v5. I am hoping I did not put my foot in my mouth.

thanks

Bobbee... welcome to mqseries.net, die hard listservers are welcome here too...

I don't know about veritas for sure, but do know for Sun the support pacs only work for Sun Clustering 1.x and 2.x, from experience I know for Sun Cluster 3.x NEEDED the agents from Sun (indeed arm, leg and a lot of support...) to work, using the supportpacs would kill your system on 3.x ...

It maybe that veritas got a light bulb or dollar $$ moment just like Sun and decided to go the Agent route as well.

We used the MQ Suport Pack for Veritas Solaris in Boston. Worked like a charm. I am assuming the WBI one is just as consistent. I would just like to hear it.........once!!!!

I like MQSeries.net. I just wish when you hit reply it Auto Inserted the Subject. Sort of makes you think the reply is not going to the right place. Takes some getting used to, also my ICON says NEWBIE. That may be a good thing considering how long my IT ponytail is. Sort of refreshing!!!

So are the Veritas Solaris versions between Boston and where you are now the same?

Don't worry about the Subject, just leave it blank. and as the newbie status is concerned... it has to do with post count nothing more and nothing less...

the VCS versions are different. That was back in 2001. But the SP was just updated in 11/2004. This should reflect a more current version and WBI v5. It mentions v5 now explictly, but a little qualified though!!

Bobbee,
could not find any specifics on WBIMB V5 and Veritas on Solaris.

Did find:
http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techarticles/0403_humphreys/0403_humphreys.html
http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg246328.pdf

You mentioned VCS 4.0 on the listserv and the Veritas guy trying to sell you the agent (with support and such... ), the obvious question would be:
What changed in VCS 4.0 that you know need an Agent (like in Sun Cluster 3.x)?

I hope this helps...
