I am new to the MQseries world. We had someone leave recently and MQ landed in my lap.
Question: MQ is on OS/390 and Linux servers. On one of our production (linux) severs we constantly experience 100 % CPU utilization for the task amqcrs6a. This sever has 5 CPU's and the 100 % CPU utilization will jump around from one CPU to another. Our production environment will get occasional MQGET TIMEOUT errors. Any help for this situation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks -- |

Well amqcrs6a is an inbound listener process for LU 6.2 but I am not sure why it would be using so many CPU cycles. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |

This problem sounds familiar!
Does this happen during particular time of the day? Have you tried getting a MQ trace when this problem occurs? Do you have a queue with large number of messages? _________________ Kiran

The problem seems to be rather constant. Every time I log onto the box I check it out and 1 of the processors is pegged.
I have not ran a trace as of yet (I have other MQ problems that I have inherited and I am working through them - different box and QMGR).
I thought that I would throw something out here to see if it had been experienced before.

On the z/OS side I see that:
CSQX849I ?CSQ3 CSQXRDQM LU 6.2 listener INDISP=QMGR not started
These QMGR's are only using TCP/IP
Should this task even be running? |

Have not had a chance to update this thread in a while ---
Diving in (I know this is basic stuff) I noticed that we are not using LU6.2 and only TCP/IP connections. Killed this task and all was better. No worse for the wear.
Was this task just looping and trying to connect? |
