HI All,

We have a workflow setup on AIX 5.1 with MQ5.2 and WF 3.4 connecting to a remote Db2.

We have a Java Service running on the AIX which picks up mesages submitted by clients from a cluster of WAS Boxes.
The JVm is given a min and max memory of 512MB.
The memory reaches 150 MB at the startup of the Java Service.
The JVM crashes atleast once per day. As it prints out of memory.
Initialy it was working fine with 256 and it was doubled bcos of the out of memory problem.

This error does not happen on a similar environment.
So we ruled out the code part being a culprit.

ANy one has any idea on how to check and see whats eating up the memory on AIX?

We are running with a verbose:gc option and that doesnt help.

Recently on that Box the max channels were increased from 500 to 750.
as the OS couldnt fork a process.

Any input is appreciated.

Hi

You can run "topas" command as root on AIX , to see how much memory is being used by each process And also how much total system memory is being used.

Thanks

Hi,
We faced similar problem, but could not find the root cause.
So, what i did at that time was, do the setup again.

But before going for that, we should try to look into the log files. Could get some info related internal events of Workflow from the log files.
Also see if there are many messages lying in the ADMININPUTQ of Admin server. Also check if there are many messages lying under the hold queue of Execution Server. Need to clear the messages, and see if there is any change in performance.

Hope it helps.

THe problem was with the Ulimit file on AIX.
It was set to 256Mb and the native heap was exceeding it and could not get enought memory.
