It's been a few weeks since the last time I worked with the message broker toolkit installed on my laptop. I'm not aware of any changes made that would have affected it, but when I try to start it now, I get the splash screen, wait a while, and then the Debug perspective is displayed. The cursor shows the hourglass, and when I launch task manager, it shows two entries under Applications: one with the eclipse icon and one with a plain Windows dialog box icon, both with a status of Not Responding and a title of Debug - Message Brokers Toolkit for WebSphere Studio - Message Broker. There is nothing of significance in the Event Viewer logs, and I have restarted my machine and the app still hangs on launch. Websphere MQ 5.3 is up and running, as well as the services IBM MQSeries Broker ConfigMgr, IBM MQSeries Broker QMetrembicBRK and IBM MQSeries Broker UserNameServer.

Does anyone know what I need to do to get the app to respond? Maybe it was previously terminated in an incomplete state and some temp file needs to be cleared (wild speculation on my part).

1. close your toolkit
2. create a folder called c:/ibm/WBIMB/workspace
3. copy metadata folder from c:/prog.../ibm/wespher....brokers/eclipse/workspace to the folder created in step 2.
4. now go to your toolkit icon>right click>properties....for "start in" field put
c:/ibm/WBIMB/workspace
do it for all icons. i.e., desktop and the icon in start>praogram>websphere brokers.
5. for target field add a space and -Xms384M after quotes (current text)
6. open toolkit and run software updates from about menu

you will not see any of your resources when you open toolkit.. you need to import them again from c:/prog.../ibm/wespher....brokers/eclipse/workspace
