I would be interested in reading about success/usefulness of utilizing the Broker Events ($SYS topic) in supporting the broker environment. Apart from this board (of course) I have been reading about this in the broker manuals and looked at the Tivoli guides. Our intention is to grow our own - as I'm assuming is common.
A couple of questions getting tossed around here:
1. If we have adequate monitoring for the broker qmgr aren't we more or less covered in broker monitoring?
2. Can we basically publish the data contained in the operations tab in v2 Control Center with these event messages?
We support MQSI, WMQI & WBIMB environments.
Appreciate thoughts. |

Well, if you are developing your own app to monitor the broker then you will need people with specific skill-set to support the system and monitoring app. Also, you need to do extensive testing on your monitoring tool and make sure it's covering all possible scenarios. What is the monitoring application goes down? How will you manage looping message flows, dataflow engine getting abended/restarted etc.
It's worth looking at some tools in the market to monitor Broker software. Some of the Vendors are,
1. contact admin
2. Candle/IBM
3. MQ Software _________________ Kiran

No.
How are you going to detect when your message flow decides to destroy a message?
How are you going to detect when your message flow puts out bad data?
How are you going to detect when your message flow GETS bad data? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
