I'm not a MQWF person, but the following may help:

http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/websphere/library/techtip/pwd/mqseries_workflow.html

It is an article on MQWF and a 3-tier environment.

rdx:

1) you posted to the wrong forum.... use the Workflow forum for workflow questions.

2) You will not be able to have MQWF servers on mixed OS. The Server and the Database must both reside on the same OS (at least thru 3.4, I am not certain about 3.5, but I doubt this restriction was lifted).

I moved it.

The database and workflow server with same OS is not supported by IBM but it is doable (it seems, that is what I heard ). But why do you want to do it if IBM doesn't support it?

sorry for that rdx i will post it in workflow forum
but one question
should the db2 database and the work flow servers reside on the same OS
OR just the work flow servers (for example workflow servers on 3 different windows xp machines and DB2 database on(AIX) OR WINDOWS 2003 SERVER CAN WE DO THIS)
AND ONE MORE QUESTION can we configure cluster of workflow servers on windows xp and 2003 servers(which are 2 different OS)
if you you can please reply that will be a great help thanks

Your database and workflow server should be on the same OS.
For example if your DB is on AIX, then your workflow server(s) should be on AIX.
If your DB is on Windows, then your Workflow server should be on Windows. I don't know about Windows 2000 and 2003 whether it makes a difference. You should contact IBM whether that kind of configuration is supported.

If you just want to play around and see how it works then you could try. But this kind of configuration is definitely not a good idea for production systems.

It is my opinion that you will have no problem with variations of Windows.

However, I do not think it will be possible with different OS for Server and DB. Although Vennela indicates he has heard of it being done, you really would need to discuss with IBM, because if they will not support you you could get into deep trouble. See the Programming guide: Section "Setup scenario for client/servers with a remote database (three-tier)" This contains the following:

All MQ Workflow servers access the same database. All MQ Workflow servers and the database server must be running the same operating system.

I checked the 3.5 Install guide also and the restrection still exists.
