I am installing Redhat 9 on a Pentium 3. Is this the correct MQ trial version for me to experiment with?

I do not want to use a client version.
Also, for me to learn how to install MQ 5.3 server for linux, can I just refer to the Linux Quick beginnings?

Looks like you got the right one to me and yes Linux Quick Beginnings is your best place to start.
