Hello everyone,
Is there a tool out there that will enable me to do a media AND system backup without stopping the channels or the queue manager?
Thanks |

No.
MQ does not provide a consistent backup unless the QM is down. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Jeff is correct, the next best thing is to save a snap shot of all the objects on your MQManagers using the saveqmgr utility in the MS03 Support Pac Downloadable from the IBM Web Site. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |

MQseries on z/OS actually contains inforamtion that will allow to recover completely from a backup of a running system - ofcourse the logs must be available. _________________ Regards,

And they have to be Linear as apposed to Circular. Correct? _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |

Actually, neither. There's only one kind of log on z/OS, and it doesn't map directly to either of these. Sort of a combination.

Yet another TidBit I've learned about MQ on z/OS without having to actually admin an MQManager on that platform. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |
