Why Configuration Manager can only be created only on Windows Machine? Is there any specific reason?
Is it somewhere related to the Toolkit (as development of Message flows and sets can only be done in Toolkit and Toolkit can run only on windows)?

Experts in this forum can throw some light on this...

As I understood it from a couple of years ago, there is Windows API code in the config manager - all of the stuff that allows it to authenticate against Windows users and groups.

It would be nice, and I expect it will happen, that ConfigMgr be able to authenticate against LDAP.

Sorry for the misinformation mentioned about the toolkit.. toolkit may run from other platforms (like Linux and AIX) too...

There was a promise/rumor about platform extension for ConfigMgr. On T&M conference, as far as I remember.

Toolkit is an other story, because this is a Java proggy and there is an article about integration into WSAD on Linux... but I've just heard it...
