Hi Friends,
We are planning to use oracle database for WBIMBV5 brokers. we were using db2 in previous releases (MQSI2.1).
Any one had exp with oracle ? any problems ? I would highly appreciate
if you share your experience ....

I have one question:
Why? A copy of DB2 is provided with and licensed for use with the MQ Broker version 5. Why complicate things by using Oracle?
I am not saying that you can't do it, but can anyone tell me why you would use Oracle instead of DB2 as the broker databases?
It was my understanding that Oracle and DB2 are so close in most measures of performance as to not matter.
I understand why you might use it as a User (application) database, if all your other applications are already using it. But the broker databases are basically black boxes that don't get touched (by users) unless things are going very bad.
Is this because of a software incompatablity?

Well we are exploring the other ways ....Is that true for WBIMBV5 broker it requires Oracle 9i........? Can it work with Oracle 8.1.7?

| Our experience using Oracle for our v5.x broker databases has been positive. There have been no real issues that I can recall. We started our WBIMB implementation during the 3rd qtr of last year, at which time our Oracle platform was at 8.1.7. Later that year we upgraded our Oracle version to 9.0.1 and recently upgraded again to 9.2.0.4. |
