All,
I have a new tool and I can compile and link it on Unix and Windows but I also want to build a load-module (compile & link it) for the mainframe.
Does anyone know where I rent mainframe time from?? i.e. service bureau or maybe services company, etc..
I have lots of mainframe expereince, so I know what I'm doing (hopefully ).
Here's what I'm looking for:
- a recent release of z/OS (not too picky)
- WMQ 5.3 or 5.3.1
- 1 queue manager built and running.
- C compiler & linker
- CAF installed on z/OS (Client Attachment Feature)
- Ability to run a client program from any OS (even VPN from my PC).
I'm an IBM business partner, but I can't find out if IBM actually offers these services.
Any help / info about ANYBODY who offers this kind service would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Roger Lacroix

I know IBM has a mainframe emulator that runs on a PC.
Depending on your partner status, you might be able to download a version and run it on a laptop or something. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi Jeffs,
Jeff L. , I think prefer to run on a real mainframe, because when dealing with MQ exits, the behavior may be different in an emulator.
Jeff D., I would appreciate the contact name.
Thanks

Have you tried getting a Partnership with IBM? At one time they would provide you with a PC that had a S/390 card in it that was capable of running MVS (OS/390..not too sure about z/OS but I would be surprised if it didn't). I wouldn't worry about the emulator not working the same as the operating system is identical to the one that would be loaded on the 'big iron'.....of course they (IBM) may not still do this but it could be worth a few inquiries.

Your best bet might be to find a customer willing to let you test your programs in return for discounts/free licenses. |

All,
I received contact info from a colleague for IBM's Developer Technical Support Center where you can rent mainframe time. So, if Jeff has a different contact / company then I can do a little shopping / negotiating.
