Why not just write some perl scripts and use sendmail to send the the alerts you want to know about to your favorite Monitoring tool?

I am considering HYBODUS, a network + resources monitoring tool. It works with NetSNMP. If MQ can hook into that, then I dont have to hack perl scripts. Of course I love to hack, but I need to prioritize what I hack

QPasa will allow you to use SNMP traps with perl
