Problem:
I am trying to find out if anyone is using Microsoft Explorer to display the queues and
the messages on the queues in MQSeries(NT).
I was told that there is a limit to how many
messages you can see at one time. The limit is 200. Does anyone know if this can be altered. The objective is to look at all the messages on a particular queue.
Thanks for the assist
Debra

You can't use Microsoft Explorer to view messages on a queue. Supplied with MQSeries for Windows NT/2000 is an IBM supplied tool called MQSeries Explorer. Using that tool you can browse the messages on a queue but only the first 200. If you need to examine more messages, consider using the IBM supplied queue browser called "amqsbcg". This will dump to the screen the details of all messages on a named queue. These details can be redirected to a file for more sensible search and review.

Debra,
As Kolban has pointed out, and I think I mentioned in an email, the sample program amqsbcg will probably meet your needs. But, remember, the amqsbcg program (written in C) only allocates a 100 byte buffer; in other words, if you have any messages over 100 bytes in the queue, amqsbcg won't be able to browse them. This means you need to alter the buffer allocation in the amqsbcg source code (which usually resides in the samples directory under the MQSeries directory on windows) and recompile it with Visual C++ or some other C compiler. In fact I may have one with a 2Mb buffer compiled for NT. Let me know if you want me to try and dig it up...
