Talking about performance, are there any recommendations about message length? I heard something like "it's better to use many small messages rather than a big one".
The environment is zOS & CICS. Obviously, the XML parser provided by COBOL LE 3.3 has much to say here, but what I want to know is MQ's opinion managing large messages under CICS. Would there be a critical decrease of performance if changing the message length from 100KB to 4MB?

The bigger perfomance hit is persistent messages. We run 4 M messages as a standard upper limit and it really seems fine. (We segement larger messages, and work around the mainframe limitation by using a broker).
The perfomance report mentioned above does have the information in great detail.
Generally more, but smaller messages are more efficient then less larger messages. _________________ Patrick Goodhart
