Hi all,
Need help,
At my work, We have win2k Server, in which WMQ 5.2 with one Queue Manager and 10 Queue's si running. We receive messages from Mainfram, where they have queue manager.
We are planning to have a failover and recovery process. Please, tell me the best options.
We are having two ooptions in our hand.
1. To go with MQ clustering, where we are planning to add one more server on our side with a queue manager. And put the three queue managers in a cluster.
2. second, option is go with a microsoft Win2k Cluster. In which, second server on our side can be made a mirror image of the first and put in a cluster.
which one is the best option.
Thanks,
suri |

WMQ clusters are designed for load balancing and not failover. If you attempt to use a WMQ cluster for failover, you can end up with a message "stuck" on the qmgr that is down until it comes back up. If you are truly looking for a failover environment, you'll need a second machine to failover to. There is a section (chapter 13) in the Systems Admin manual that you probably ought to take a look at.
Also, if you are getting serious enough to worry about failover, I'd suggest that you upgrade to WMQ 5.3. |
