Hi,

I have installed MQ version 5.3 with CSD07 on the server which is connected to about 7 clients (ver 5.3 CSD07). The MQserver has 2 queue managers each of which has about 25 queues. The queues are continously polled by the Microsoft Biztalk message broker. Any messages coming into the queues are picked up by the MQAdapter present on the Biztalk.

Problem is that MQ server is showing errors with reason codes 2071 that memory space is not available. The messages are not being picked up by the adapter. The server is using about 4500MB virtual memory out of 5.5GB. The available physical memory is 3.1GB and total is 3.6 GB. The hard disk space available is about 11GB. The error message shown in the event viewer is -

An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred (Failed to attach shared memory map: Handle(00000C94) [rc=536895769 errorCode=8])
MQ detected an unexpected error when calling the operating system. The MQ error recording routine has been called.

Followed by :

An internal WebSphere MQ error has occurred.
An error has been detected, and the MQ error recording routine has been called. Details of the error have been stored at D:\MQ\Data\errors\AMQ00780.0.FDC. A synopsis is given in the data section below. Use the standard facilities supplied with your system to record the problem identifier, and to save the generated output files

The log shows the following synopsis -

How often does this happen? Have you tried increasing your virtual memory to see if it gives some relief?

Thanks for the quick response!

The server was setup a week back. The problem has occured about 7 times in last 3 days. Another aspect is that currently the message broker solution is being tested with about 106 messages at a time. This is done about 10 times a day.

The paging size for the drive on which logging was being done was not set. This was set today to 2GB. But there is no respite! The problem still persists.

Thanks.

are you using custom code somewhere and having a memory leak or never closing MQ resources?

The process at fault
Quote:
C:\WINNT\system32\dllhost.exe
is not part of MQ. Make sure all your windows resources (COM, DCOM, Memory etc...) are being released correctly after allocation and usage. Are you running in a .Net environment and if yes what is your frequency for finalizer and garbage collector ? Are you running some unmanaged code ??

Have you checked for fixes beyond the CSD level (APARS) ?

Enjoy
