Is anyone running WebSphere MQ family products under SP2 on XP?
Is anyone having problems? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.

People in the list serve said don't do it. IBM had warned its employees not toiput SP2 on their desktops. Its not an official answer, but that's what I read.

Cant try it as we arent allowed to install it!
We have asked for a special test to be performed against this level, but dont know whether it is underway yet.
Any others tried it? |

Hi,
I installed SP2 on my WinXP laptop last week. I have not had any problems so far - everything appears to work just fine.
I have WMQ v5.3 CSD07 installed with 3 queue managers setup.

Thanks, Roger.
But that's a very small list of 'everything'...
Do you have DB2? WBIMB? ICS? Workflow? WAS?
Actually, more importantly, is SP2 uninstallable? I've got my laptop set up to record system images, so I can do rollbacks. But I wouldn't be surprised if somehow that didn't work for SP2. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi,
Wellllllllllllllllllllll. Not everybody is a IBM-loving-guy.
Lets see what's working on my laptop:
- WMQ (v5.3 CSD07)
- MQ Visual Edit / MQ Visual Browse / MQ Batch Toolkit
- MQJExplorer
- JMSAdminGUI
- MySQL
- Apache (1.3.31)
- MinGW (3.1.0)
- PHP (v4)
- Java (v1.4)
- Object Rexx (v6)
- Eclipse (v3)
- Visual Diff
- Easy CD (v5)
- Norton Anti-Virus
- WinAmp (v5)
- WinZip (v8 )
- Spy Sweeper
- Maxthon (v1.0.250) <-- nice browser
- IfranView
- Eudora
- Putty
I think that is everything on my WinXP SP2 laptop.
Regards,

That can't possibly be everything. I don't see WebSphere Application Server. |

Well, things seem to work. I've got WSAD 5.1.2, WBIMB 5.0 FP4, WMQ 5.3 FP7, DB2 FP6, and WAS 5.1 running fine.
Other than having to unblock a lot of Java Launcher processes, it's not been an issue.
Thanks. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

From an MQ perspective, I dont think we place prereqs on supported fixpack levels of windows as long as they are older than the ones we originally tested with (see the SOE).
So in practice, yes... I think.... But dont quote me.... |

Hey, supported is a whole other ball game.
I'm just saying "they work". So don't have any fears of upgrading your dev. environment. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
