I see the various plug-Ins to source control tools on the Eclipse website.
The README states that you must install the Souce Control Tool. (It does not state where the tool needs to be installed).
Does WBIMB support connections to remote instances of source control?
We run a single instance on a Unix server and would like to integrate that with our WBIMB objects.
Thanks. |

Yes. Eclipse supports client connections to remote Source Control Tools. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Most of these vendor provide Eclipse Plug-in now. You need to install that plug-in on the machine where the toolkit application is running. _________________ Kiran

Which tool are you thinking of using? CVS (I think the plugin may be installed as default), PVCS (Which according to PVCS support the plugin supports eclipse, but not the toolkit yet. I have a coworker who is effectively testing this now...), or something else? _________________ Patrick Goodhart

We are using PVCS on a Unix box.
The toolkit is running on a Win2K box and will be found on developer's PCs.
I did not want to have to install a separate PVCS install on each server.
So am I hearing that the toolkit does not support client access to PVCS version manager at this time?
Also, when PVCS does support the toolkit, then only the WSAD plug-in needs to be installed on every developer's PC? |

That's what it sounds like from Patrick's post.

Yes. You will then configure this plug-in to connect to the PVCS server. _________________ Kiran

I understand that Merant Version Manager 8 supports WSAD 5.0 and Eclipse 2.0 - has anyone anyone out there proven that it can be integrated with WBIMB V5 ? |
I haven't checked for V8, but I did successfully install the Eclipse plugin for Merant Version Manager 7.5.1.5 on our WBIMB ConfigMgr server.
I was then able to use the PVCS integrated interface (from within WBIMB 5.0) to checkin/checkout components (using a PVCS database on a separate Windows server). |

The PVCS plug in may work in the toolkit, but PVCS has not tested it.
We have a dedicated PVCS team that is in the process of testing the pluging now since we need it badly.
Last I heard they reached a point with the eclipse plug in that they couldn't manage the projects properly, and were opening tickets with PVCS. _________________ Patrick Goodhart
