Hi guys
Does anyone know what port the Windows MQ 5.3 explorer uses to display remote queue managers? I'm trying to add a remote queue manager running on a AIX box into my explorer but I have a suspicion that the firewall is preventing me from doing so. If anyone knows which port it is (1414 for this too maybe?) please let me know otherwise I will have to get a sniffer on the connection.
Thanks

???
Just connect the remote qmgr.
In most cases it´s 1414, but you need to know it indeed.
Call the remote site/people. Or try by telnet to the most likely port.
And yes if there is a firewall blocking it, then make a rule to
let the data go through the required port within the firewall.
And make sure everything is running, ie command server , qmgr etc etc.
And the need svrconn channel !!! |

If you didn't specify a port for the remote connection, the default (1414) will be used, because the SVRCONN connections come through the same Listener service as the message channels. As said above, you can telnet the port to check the network communications. |

remember as well that the windows id you run your MQExplorer under will need to exist and have access to MQ on the remote system.

Thanks for the help guys. Seems it was port 1414 and we have implemented firewall rules allowing connectivity bi-directional through the port.
Cheers |
