There have been several appends on modelling CSV messages using the MRM's TDS physical format. I'd like to understand some more about what folk are doing, with a view to improving the usability in this area. So, here are some questions, please add a reply if you can, the more detailed the better. Many thanks
a) Where do your CSV messages originate? For example, are they roll-your-own or are they exported from Excel or 1-2-3?
b) If they are roll-your-own do you have any metadata that defines them, and if so, in what form is it in?
c) Can the delimiter also appear in the data values, and if so what technique do you use to 'escape' these appearances? For example, put the value in quotes, use an escape character, use a mnemonic? |

for us the output is from other systems that was designed before XML.
There is no meta data yet the message almost never changes so its not a problem.
