Egils,
I am confused. messageflows is the term we use in Message Broker. You are asking about starting and stopping them from MQ program?

hi, here some more details,

i have several backup-queues, that are filled with messages in several messageflows. we need that incoming data for revision purposes so i can't delete them. I need to restore them from time to time to flat files.

I need the messageflows to be stopped, so i can save to a file and clear the queue's. I need to have the messages in a clean state (means: the messages have to fit each other). I want that to be done automatically. I don't wnat an operator to stop the flow and save the data. it should be a nighly bach job.

If the flows are running during that process i don't have a clean cut.

as program i mean a z/OS jcl or maybe a Cobol program.

cheers, Egils

If this is a messageflow in WMQI, MQSI, or WBIMB, and you want to stop the messageflow in a prefixe time (nightly batch job), I would have done it in the messageflow itself.
After the message arrived on the inputNode, I would test the time of day, if it is the time for that bacth job, just flow the message to an output file. Otherwise flow normally.

Isn't this what you are referring to?

You could however take a look on the control message passed between configuration mgr. and the Integrator broker to start/stop a flow/execution group.... Warning: You're on your own

I can't recoment this approach, but it might work.

I have to say it's not a good solution, because it's not documented by IBM, you can raise it as a enhancement request thru you IBM representative.

Just my $0.02
