Hi,
the trial version on of our test boxes (win2k, MQ 5.3) has expired so we purchased a licensed copy of MQ 5.3. Now do I have to re-install everything again?

As I see it, you have 3 choices:
1. Uninstall trial and install licensed MQ and build all new stuff.
2. Backup your QMGRS folder, uninstall trial (most installers do not remove files created after the initial install, hence, good chance your QM files will still be there), install licensed MQ in exactly same location, launch MQ explorer and see if definitions are still there. If not, try "Show Queue Manager". If that doesn't work, good opportunity to practice QM disaster recovery or build your own disaster recovery protocol.
3. Install licensed copy over trial and hope that trial fragments don't impact production environment in unexpected ways down the road.
Just my newbie $.02 worth.

I called IBM and the first thing the tech. support guy told me is: "I don't know".
I uninstalled MQ and reinstalled with the "typical" option selected. MQ will detect that there were previously create queue manager and will display a summary of the installation option selected by the user (me!) in a grayed window before starting the install. Information displayed are things like the installation path, and also the previously created queue manager names which will be enabled once MQ is installed. Once the installation was over, all queue managers were up and running!
