Hi freinds,
I am in need for some help...
Actually we have MQSI2.1 (Broker) on sun box and control centers on windows machines.
we are planning to migrate to WBIMB5.0. So my questions are
1) Can we have WBIMB5.0(Broker Server) and MQSI2.1(Broker) on same box ? If No...Is there any valid IBM document link that says that? and also do we need to buy extra server?
2) Can we have MQSI 2.1 control center and WBIMB5.0 Tool on same windows NT machine ?
Please help |

This is one of the most frequently asked questions here in the last few months.
Why don't you spend some time looking through all of the other similar questions? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The answer is NO, you cannot have V5 and V2.1 brokers on the same machine.
As jefflowrey mentioned before, you can use the Search option to view like topics before posting questions.
You should also look at the migration documentation and it clearly states what is supported and what is NOT supported.

The following excerpt is from the Toolkit --> Help --> Help Contents --> Search on Coexistence with previous releases and other products

The conditions under which a Version 2.1 broker can participate in a WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker Version 5.0 broker domain are as follows:
On a UNIX or Windows system, you cannot install any Version 5.0 product code if there is Version 2.1 product code on the system. You must first uninstall all the Version 2.1 product code. This means, for example, that you cannot run a Version 2.1 broker on the same system as a Version 5.0 broker or a Version 5.0 Configuration Manager.
Seems pretty clear....
If you want to preserve a broker at the Version 2.1 level of code during a migration, and the broker is running on a system where you need to install Version 5.0 product code, you must move the Version 2.1 broker to another system before you start the migration. |
