Hi All,
One of our application needs to put around 70,000 messages on a queue.
I need suggestions :
1. Is this a right idea to use MQ-series for this type of application ?
2. what is maximum depth of queue I can define on AS/400?
Thanks in advance,

I can put 70,000 messages on a queue, and only ever have a queue depth of 1.
I just need to keep getting them as fast as I put them.
You surely don't mean leave 70,000 messages on a queue, for several hours or days, right? Because that's what databases are for.
Or indexed flat files. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

It depends. Can you explain who is going to consume the messages?

As of 5.3, the max queue depth is 999,999,999. But your disks will fill up long before you reach that #. _________________ Peter Potkay

From WMQ online help,
Quote: |
The value of this attribute is zero or greater. The upper limit is determined by the environment:
On AIX, HP-UX, z/OS, Solaris, and Windows, the value cannot exceed 999 999 999.
In other environments, the value cannot exceed 640 000.

Thanks All,
There will be a listener running all the time to get messages. But my only concern is if somehow listener is not running then it should not be a problem.
I got my answer now.
Thanks again.
